On June,10, 2013, at Bazaikha station (Krasnoyarsk), Siberian partners of “Politec”, LTD “East Contact Service”, implemented overflow of propylene from wrecking LAF flexitank of technically suitable container into “BLT” Flexitank.

I would like to comment upon the situation. It’s not the first time we confront with such a situation as the damaged container with BLT flexitank or by other manufacturers (pls. see Flexitank: review or the whole truth about Flexitank, part 2). I won’t talk on and on, just make a conclusion. The reason for what is happening is the so-called “flexitank overloading”. Let me explain. All flexitank manufacturers advertise loading rates up to 24000 liters, but no one takes into account the viscosity of the fluid and vibrations that occur during container moving, especially by railway. Shippers usually act on the basis of allegations of flexitank manufacturers, but the result of such loading (as observed in practice) is a damaged container (bent wall) and as a consequence - damaged flexitank.

The walls of 20” container are not intended for such a loading, made by transported liquid (with low viscosity), the cargo is inert and consequently, the constant hydroblows lead to damaged side-walls of containers. We do understand clients’ desire to reduce transportation cost by downloading more but we must remember that the consequences are sad, and the elimination of the consequences is very expensive

There are some recommendations for solutions of this problem:
1. Not to load more than 20 000 liters (high viscosity fluid loading can be increased on the manufacturer's recommendations).

2. Use only good-conditioned containers with capacity not less than 30 tons.
3. Strengthen the side walls of the container.
