Insurance risk — is the transfer of certain risks to insurance company. For example, for using flexible containers two main methods of insurance may be used: property insurance and accident insurance. In case of property insurance the risk of the manufacturer is insured (not less than five million U.S. dollars). Separately, accident insurance coverage involves general civil and personal responsibility of the carrier.

Main reasons of flexitanks’ leakage:

  • - excess of the load bearing capacity
  • - unsuitable container
  • - failure to comply with the Transport Safety
  • - improper installation
  • - human factor
  • - etc
  • - manufactures’ defect

After establishing the amount of damages in case of an emergency, there comes the time of the claim.

1. If you can not determine the culprit of damage of cargo, you must submit a preliminary claim to your Agent.

In this case, you must provide the following documents:

  • copies of transit documents, such as bills of lading, contracts of carriage, and etc.;
  • delivery report, for example, delivery note and etc.;
  • a copy of the commercial invoice;
  • a copy of the packing list with a full description of the product;
  • a copy of the claim letter to the carrier with the application of their response, and relevant correspondence, if possible;
  • any other supporting documents (witness statements, pictures, survey instruments, certificates of inspection and related services, etc.).

2. In the case of evidence of damage due to improper cargo flexitank quality and workmanship, the claim can be filed by the flexitank manufacturer.

In this case, you must provide the following documents:

  • detailed pictures of the scene;
  • survey report made by a specialized company;
  • other supporting documents.

Despite the most advanced and secure technologies used in the production of our flexitank, the probability of inclusion of simple human factor or an emergency during transportation, loading, unloading, may result in damage to the integrity of the flexitank and leaking cargo.

Flexitanks are insured in case of damage to the integrity of the membrane and leakage of cargo in the event that it is proven that loss has occurred precisely because of the defected flexitank, but there was not the fault of third parties. In the case of confirmation of damaged flexitank because of inadequate quality or manufacturing defect, the manufacturer is obliged to pay compensation within 3 days of receipt of the detailed survey report on a particular insurance case.

In the event of an emergency situation that could lead to the loss of cargo, you should immediately contact the insurance company and notify the Agent.

Further actions to minimize losses in case of emergency:

1. Report to:

  • An insurance company;
  • Agent;
  • Manufacturer.

2. Provide a specified parties with complete information on the location of the damaged container and the contact person at the scene.

3. Prepare a detailed description of the spill area, the intensity of fluid leakage, take a picture of the current status for the report.

4. Prepare a description of the container damage (dents, holes, etc.).

5. Prepare a full data about the sender and the recipient of cargo.

6. Open container to assess the nature of damage and prior damage.

Make every effort to minimize the loss of cargo: block gusts, in the shortest possible time overload the remaining cargo into another flexitank or containers In case of possible pollution, do everything possible to catch leaking cargo in a separate container.

Be sure to make a written complaint to the carrier, including a detailed description of the possible causes of the accident and emergency. Together with a representative of the carrier make a joint survey report.
